Oximeter (Respiratory Rate, SpO2, HR)

Oximeter (Respiratory Rate, SpO2, HR)

This oximeter can measure vital signs - respiratory rate, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.

Respiratory rate, also known as the breathing rate, is the number of breaths a person takes in a minute. An oximeter can estimate respiratory rate by measuring the changes in blood oxygen saturation levels that occur with each breath.

Heart rate, also known as the pulse rate, is the number of times a person's heart beats in a minute. An oximeter can estimate heart rate by measuring the changes in blood flow in the fingers caused by each beat of the heart.

Oxygen saturation, or the SpO2 level, is the measurement of how much oxygen the red blood cells in a person's blood are carrying. An oximeter measures the saturation of oxygen in the blood by shining two different wavelengths of light (usually red and infrared) through the finger or earlobe and measuring the amount of each wavelength that is absorbed.

By combining these three measurements, an oximeter can provide a comprehensive picture of a person's respiratory and cardiovascular health, allowing you to measure baseline vitals.

Using the oximeter to measure your vitals can assist in your breathing retraining program to measure progress.
